Frequently Asked Questions

Membership Information

The Black River 4WD Club invites you to discover all the benefits of membership. We welcome you to attend a meeting, tag along on a trip and have a chat with other members.

Membership enquiries can be directed to the Club Secretary

Why Join ?

The Club offers an opportunity for people with 4WD vehicles and interests in the outdoors to share their experiences and participate in recreational activities as a group. For the inexperienced this has the added advantage of providing an element of safety and eliminates the risk of being stuck in an isolated part of the bush by yourself.

What do I have to do to become a member of Black River 4WD Club Inc?

The Club requires you (and your family, if applicable) to attend 1 overnight trip and 1 day trip before submitting an application for membership. Once you have completed the trips, you must have a sponsor nominate you for membership.

I am interested in joining the Black River 4WD Club Inc. How much does it cost ?

There is a one time joining fee of $20 and an annual single membership fee of $55 and for families $75 payable at the first meeting in July.

Okay, so I pay my membership fee, and I get voted into your Club as a member. What is included in my membership?

Once you are a financial member and you remain financial, you will have access to the TCIS Insurer through the 4WD Association, which can mean savings for insuring your vehicle every year. You will also be able to get experienced advice about your 4WD from our members who have learned through years of practice.

The Black River 4WD Club Inc is an affiliated Club with the QLD 4WD Association, which means that as more and more places in and around the State are being shut down to 4WD access, our Club members have agreements through the Association struck with landowners and QPWS to go to otherwise gated/closed areas.

Of course, there is the main reason to join a family based Club like ours, for the members and the chance to belong to a responsible 4WD and outdoor sporting Club. You'll find friendships are easy to form, and will last a lifetime.

What kind of vehicle do I need to join your Club ?

Any 4WD vehicle that is currently registered and road worthy is allowed to join. Before you attend any trips, the Trip Coordinator will need to assess your vehicle to ensure it conforms to specifications regarding towing points and other applicable details.

What kind of communication device will I need ?

We use Convoy procedures when we are on trips. This means that all vehicles MUST remain in contact with the Trip leader through a UHF radio. Channel 15 is the channel for club trips.
